LTFRM Roundtable

LTFRM Alliance members join Treasury and Bank of England officials at LTFRM Roundtable

A number of members of the LTFRM Alliance were delighted to take part in a Parliamentary roundtable to discuss the merits of Long-Term Fixed-Rate Mortgages (LTFRMs) with participants including the Economic Secretary to the Treasury, Andrew Griffith MP.

The roundtable, which was hosted by Treasury Select Committee member and former CEO of the British Bankers Association, Anthony Browne MP, was also attended by Sarah Breeden, Executive Director, Financial Stability Strategy and Risk, Bank of England and members of her team.

Presentations were made by Arjan Verbeek, CEO of Perenna Bank, James Browne from the Tony Blair Institute, and Morten Nielsen, Head of ALM and Investor Relations at Nykredit and Chairman of the European Mortgage Federation, who flew in from Denmark especially for this meeting.

A number of other UK lenders including Kensington Mortgages, LiveMore Capital, and Habito also took part in the wide-ranging discussion in which the Economic Secretary showed a keen interest in LTFRMs and how effective they have proved in other countries.

He promised to consider all of the points made in more detail and to consider all the relevant data and worked examples that were available.
